Title: Rapid Spread Through Air! Red Spots Covering the Body!
Did you know? For the first time in six years, the number of measles cases in Korea has reached its highest level! Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads through the air in an instant, so we must be careful!
Measles is caused by a virus and is extremely infectious. It can easily spread from one person to another through the air.
At first, symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and redness in the eyes. A few days later, red spots start to appear all over the body, marking the onset of this alarming illness.
Recently, many of the measles cases have been found in people who traveled to Vietnam, the Philippines, China, and Cambodia. These countries are experiencing ongoing measles outbreaks.
Adults can usually recover from measles, but babies and young children, who have weaker immune systems, are at higher risk of complications such as pneumonia, ear infections, and even dangerous effects on the brain.
Measles has an incubation period of about three weeks. If you develop a fever, cough, runny nose, redness in the eyes, or red spots on your body, visit the nearest hospital and make sure to tell the doctor, “I have recently traveled abroad!” If measles is suspected, the doctor will report it to the health authorities and ensure you receive proper medical care.
Getting vaccinated is the best prevention. The MMR vaccine—given at 12 to 15 months and again at age six—provides lifelong immunity against measles, mumps, and rubella.
Measles is not just a simple cold.
To stay safe, we need correct information and responsible actions!
Thank you!
