One of the most famous places to see cherry blossoms in Korea is the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival.
It’s the largest cherry blossom festival in the country, with 360,000 cherry trees covering the entire city in white.
The second spot is Bomun Lake in Gyeongju.
There, cherry blossoms bloom around ancient ruins, creating a historical and elegant atmosphere.
Third is Yeouido’s Yunjung-ro in Seoul, where cherry blossoms and the Han River come together, making it a popular spring picnic location.
Interestingly, most of the cherry blossoms we see are from the King Cherry Tree, which originally comes from Japan but is also a native species of Jeju Island.
In fact, a Japanese scholar discovered the King Cherry Tree in Jeju back in the 1920s.
So a tree from Korea’s natural landscape became known worldwide!
